HBK CPAs & Consultants is pleased to announce that Robert J. Zahner, CPA/ABV, ASA, CVA, has been name Principal-in-Charge of the HBK Valuation, Litigation & Forensics. Zahner, who works from the HBK Valuation Downtown Pittsburgh office, has been with the firm since 2009 and has exclusively practiced business valuation since 2014.
“Robert has demonstrated a unique level of ability and dedication to providing critical support to our clients in their most important transactions and their most critical times,” noted HBK Chief Executive Officer and Managing Principal Thomas M. Angelo, CPA, CTIP. “We’re pleased to announce his new leadership role in this key practice area of our firm.”
Zahner’s expertise includes appraisals for gift and estate tax planning, shareholder transactions, buy/sell and stockholder agreements, financial reporting, ESOPs, personal goodwill, intangible assets, S corporation conversions, and litigation support such as divorce and shareholder disputes. His public accounting experience includes extensive involvement with businesses and individuals planning for and complying with federal, state, and local tax filing requirements, as well as financial statement analysis for attest. His years of experience as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) have afforded him valuable tax and accounting perspectives as a business appraiser.
In addition to being a CPA, Zahner holds various business valuation credentials, including Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), and Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV). He was part of NACVA’s 2020 40 under 40 award class and has spoken at various seminars and continuing education events in Pittsburgh, PA and the surrounding communities. He has been admitted as an expert witness in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
Zahner received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Youngstown State University. He is a member of numerous professional and civic organizations, including the American Society of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs (PICPA), American Society of Appraisers (ASA). National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA), and the Estate Planning Council of Pittsburgh. His speaking engagements include appearances on KQV Radio as well as for the Rivers Club, the Washington County Winter Bench Bar, and the Allegheny County Bar Association.
