September 28, 2020 – Pittsburgh, Pa. Robert Zahner, CPA/ABV, ASA, CVA, a Senior Manager in the HBK Valuation Group, a business of HBK CPAs & Consultants, has been named a 2020 “40 Under 40” honoree by the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). The award recognizes “the next generation of industry mavericks,” according to the Association.

Mr. Zahner started his public accounting career in 2009 at HBK in Pittsburgh, Pa. as a tax and compliance consultant before transitioning to the firm’s Business Valuation, Litigation and Forensics group. He became a full-time business appraiser in 2013, advancing from senior appraiser to manager to senior manager in 2018 at age 30. Mr. Zahner obtained his Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) credential in 2012, followed by his Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) certification, and in 2020 earned his Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation.

“Robert has mastered the technical side of some of the most complex projects, including purchase price allocations and stock options,” noted Kelly Carrier, Principal-in-Charge of HBK Valuation, Litigation & Forensics. “He is expert at understanding clients’ issues and developing solutions, and has made a substantial contribution to our valuation group.”

Mr. Zahner testifies as an expert witness in various capacities and speaks on a regular basis to local bar associations and other professional organizations. He has authored business valuation articles and has been featured in radio broadcasts regarding family business and the law. He provides training to younger HBK analysts and speaks at firm initiatives to raise awareness and educate on the need for valuation consulting.

Mr. Zahner also gives of his time charitably, serving as treasurer and board member of Beverly’s Birthdays, a Pittsburgh area non-profit organization.
